Dr Everline

Introduction

Welcome to my world of music, scholarship, and artistic expression. I am Dr. Everline Ogari Ndege, a passionate scholar, performer, educator, and composer with a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Performance from Kenyatta University (2020). My academic journey has been shaped by an extensive background in music, including a Master of Musical Art Performance (Kenyatta University), a Master of Arts in Music (Andrews University), a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Daystar University), and a Diploma in Christian Music Communication (Daystar University).

With over 20 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to instructing and mentoring musicians of all ages and abilities, fostering a deeper appreciation for music in its many forms. My expertise spans music literacy, Western music history, analytical studies, vocal literature, bibliography, diction for singers, performance practices, music in society, worship leadership, church music, the music industry, vocal and choral performance, piano, and composition. One of my greatest passions lies in the integration of folk music with contemporary elements, creating a rich and holistic learning experience that bridges cultural traditions with modern musical expressions.

Professional Experience & Contributions

Since 2014, I have served as a full-time lecturer at Daystar University, where I have nurtured and guided students to success in academic and performance-based programs. I have also played a pivotal role in preparing students for the Kenya National Music Festival, where they have won numerous awards across various categories, including choirs, quartets, trios, duets, and solo performances. As a full member of the Kenya Music Festival Trainers and Adjudicators Association, I have been honored to serve as a regional and national adjudicator since 2015.

My contributions to academia extend beyond teaching—I was instrumental in the revision of the BA Music curriculum at Daystar University’s School of Communication, Language, and Performing Arts in 2016. Additionally, I am the proud composer of the Daystar University anthem, a work that led to my appointment as the PhD students’ representative, coordinator, marshal planner, and supervisor at the institution.

Artistry & Research

As both a scholar and performing artist, I have composed and recorded over 100 musical pieces, incorporating diverse musical genres and languages. My academic contributions include published articles, journal papers, and book chapters, all aimed at enriching the field of music education and performance. My research focuses on enhancing music programs and fostering student excellence, ensuring that each learner reaches their full potential as a musician and artist.
